[Page 5 of our Fall 2006 mission trip to Central America]

(16[Sept 30]  At last, our first of several trips to the Casa Guatemala orphanage located along the Rio Dulce.  We visited them last December [click here for story & pics] bringing clothing, school supplies, and medicine but time was too short for doing anything more so, with their invitation, we were looking forward to returning and doing our children's program.  Today Kyle and Lorin would spend the day interacting with the children and adult volunteers.  Lorin, trained as a hair dresser, used the time to teach some new skills to very eager 'students'.  A plan was made to return again in a few days so the older ones could have this opportunity as well.

Truly a special time for all. See how easy it is to let the love of Jesus come through in everything you do!

(17[Oct 6th] The day has arrived to load up and head to the mountains to visit again with our dear missionary friend Myra Smith [see notes and pics from last time here]   The Buchanans have offered to drive us there in their truck so we can this time carry so many more supplies and gifts!  We begin by placing Faith in a marina [one of very few times she ever gets to do that!], then load everything into Bryan's launch for a trip across the river where his trailer awaits.  Now for an adventerous ride over the mountains where large trucks and little scooters all try to share the same narrow, winding roads - certainly going too fast and passing where they shouldn't!  Thank the Lord for Bryan's driving skills [and a few watching angels!!]

Myra's smiles tell the whole story of her surprise and excitement over all the clothing, electronic Bibles, pencils and paper, toys, puppets, and even a generator for her new feeding center.

Even Tweetie Bird, from our daughter Heather's own personal keepsakes, found a new home in a little Guatemalan's arms!

We once again followed Myra's trail up into the hillside behind her home where some of Guatemala's poorest live to visit the souls she ministers to.  It gets more difficult for her to make this journey and she prays for the Lord to send her a couple to help carry on this important work.

Erica explains radioMan with radio Bible

Something new this trip was a set of solar-powered Bible radios which play the whole New Testament in Spanish without needing batteries or electricity!

Myra's assistant Erica explains to a family how to use the radio.

This precious father , who was unable to even get out of his bed last time we were here, was seen happily listening to his radio as we walked back down the hill.

Myra needs help in many ways, especially to complete work on her feeding center and school.  Please visit her website www.wmotw.com or contact us for information on how you or your church can be a blessing to her faithful ministry.
